Since 1993, Jan Jörnmark has worked within a strongly Schumpeterian tradition, beginning with his doctoral dissertation on the European steel industry. He later developed an interest in housing policy, which has become the area he has written the most about—often within a theoretical framework strongly inspired by Jane Jacobs.
Digitalization has been a recurring theme since he co-authored a book about the IT bubble together with one of Sweden’s most successful startup entrepreneurs. This experience also led him to create the highly acclaimed digital photography project Abandoned Places (original title: Övergivna platser).
Jan is also a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
