Ratio söker en doktorand i nationalekonomi för tidsbegränsad anställning med utbildningsstart augusti 2020 eller tidigare

Ratio är en mångdisciplinär och kreativ arbetsplats som bedriver forskning om hur företagandets villkor kan utvecklas och förbättras. Forskning om arbetsmarknad och lönebildning är särskilt prioriterad. Ratio driver bland annat ett stort sammanhållet forskningsprogram om den svenska arbetsmarknaden. Arbetsuppgifter

Doktorandens avhandlingsarbete kommer att bedrivas inom ramen för ett projekt om teknisk utveckling, globalisering och arbetsmarknaden, med fokus på tjänster. Doktoranden kommer bli inskriven vid Örebro universitet och dela sin tid mellan universitetet och Ratio.

Behörighetskrav

Vi söker dig som har grundläggande behörighet till utbildning på forskarnivå, det vill säga vid tillträdet har
1. avlagt en examen på avancerad nivå, eller
2. fullgjort kursfordringar om minst 240 högskolepoäng, varav minst 60 högskolepoäng på avancerad nivå, eller
3. på något annat sätt inom eller utom landet förvärvat i huvudsak motsvarande kunskaper

Särskild behörighet för att bli antagen till utbildning på forskarnivå i ämnet har den som vid tillträdet i sin högskoleutbildning har godkänt betyg på kurser om minst 120 högskolepoäng, inklusive självständigt arbete för kandidatexamen, i nationalekonomi. Särskild behörighet har även den som inom eller utom landet har förvärvat i huvudsak motsvarande kunskaper.

Urval

Urval mellan sökande sker med hänsyn till såväl formella meriter som värdering av sökandens uppsatser som övriga kunskaper, färdigheter och förmågor som bidrar till att sökanden framgångsrikt ska kunna tillgodogöra sig forskarutbildningen i ämnet och bidra inom forskningsprojektet. Kunskaper och färdigheter i tillämpad mikroekonometri, kausal inferens och maskininlärning samt agentbaserad modellering men också i hantering av stora databaser är meriterande.

Vid tillsättningen läggs vidare stor vikt vid dina personliga egenskaper, förmåga att arbeta självständigt, strukturerat och noggrant, förmåga att presentera i tal och skrift och att möta andra människor på ett förtroendeingivande sätt, samt god samarbetsförmåga. Vi förutsätter att du är flexibel och öppen för förändringar och kan arbeta kvalitetsmedvetet och ansvarstagande.

Anställningsvillkor

Anställningen avser heltid 100 % och är en visstidsanställning på under ett år som kan förnyas med högst två år i taget. Den sammanlagda anställningstiden får dock inte vara längre än vad som motsvarar fyra års utbildning på forskarnivå på heltid.

PhD student in Economics at the Ratio Institute and Örebro University

The Ratio Institute is looking for a PhD student in economics for a fixed-term employment starting in August 2020 or earlier.

The Ratio Institute is an independent multidisciplinary research institute in Stockholm, Sweden. The main research focus is on conditions for enterprises and how they can be improved. Research on the labour market and wage formation is especially prioritized. The research of the institute also includes topics such as digitalization, servicification and structural transformation. About the project

The doctoral thesis will be conducted within the framework of a project on technological development, globalization and the labour market, focusing on services. The PhD student will be enrolled at Örebro University and divide his or her time between the university and the Ratio Institute.

Qualification requirements

In order to meet the general entry requirements, the applicant must at the time of the entry have

1. completed a second-cycle degree, or
2. completed courses equivalent to at least 240 higher education credits, of which 60 credits must be in the second cycle, or
3. otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge, in Sweden or elsewhere.

For applicants to meet the specific entry requirements for research studies in the subject, the following applies: A person meets the specific entry requirements for third-cycle courses and study programmes in the subject if he or she has received a passing grade of at least 120 credits, including an independent project in the second cycle in economics. Applicants who have acquired corresponding knowledge, in Sweden or abroad, also meet the specific entry requirements.

Selection

The selection among the eligible candidates will be based on formal merits and an evaluation of the candidate’s essays as well as on other knowledge, skills and abilities that help the candidate benefit from doctoral studies and contribute to the research project. Knowledge and skills in applied microeconometrics, causal inference and machine learning, as well as agent-based modelling, and in the management of large databases is a merit.

Great emphasis is put on the applicant’s personal qualities, such as his or her ability to work independently, meticulously and in a structured manner, as well as his or her communication skills. We assume that you have a good ability to collaborate, and are flexible, open to change and can work responsiblly.

Terms of employment

The position is a fixed-term, full time position. The term of the initial contract may not exceed one year. The employment may be extended for a maximum of two years at a time. However, the total period of employment may not exceed the equivalent of four years of full-time study.
